About FikaArt

FikaArt began when Patricio Aros, a working artist of more than 30 years, found himself between commissions and needing a new way to make a living. His son Damodar had an idea: use Patricio's decades of art experience together with his teaching background to run local painting workshops in Lund, where he lived.

They agreed on something bigger too. In a time dominated by screens and AI, building a real, local space for art, conversation and making something with your hands felt worth doing.

So they took the best parts of Swedish fika (the pause, the conversation, the small luxury), added a canvas, some paint and a glass of wine, and opened it up to anyone. The result is sessions people actually remember.

Then Patricio mentioned his artist friends in other cities. Talented people, struggling with the same problem he'd just solved. The mission grew past one painter in one town. It became simple: make it as easy as possible for any artist to make a living from their craft, and give every artist the space to build workshops in their own community.

Patricio still runs the art. Thirty years of working practice, international shows, and a back catalogue across minimalism, abstract and landscape, all aimed at one thing: getting regular people to walk out with a painting they're proud of. That's the bar we want every FikaArt artist to reach.
